Box 15 Works in Support of Recruit Class

Print

Box15 continued it's busy August on Tuesday and Wednesday , August 17th and 18th, again providing rehab support for the current Columbus Fire recruit class. Truck 1 and company established and maintained a rehab sector during 2 days of live training burns at an old home on Lazelle Road, across the street from Station 33. Due to class size, the recruit class was split in half. Approximately 25 recruits took part in this round of live burn training; the remainder of the class will complete the same training in the next few weeks. Training academy staff were kind enough to provide extra misting units, water, and a second tent to augment the rehab sector setup. In all, Box15 provided approximately 15 cases of water, 10 gallons of Sqwincher, and several breakfast bars on the second day. Additionally, 4 cases of sports drink and 3 cases of water provided by the T.A. were used as well. 3 misting fans, several chairs, and the cooling towel system were also deployed. We express thanks to the training academy staff for the chance to participate and brush up on our skills, as well.

Photos from the training can be seen here.

Box 15 Provides Rehab for Can-Am Police Fire Games

Print

On Saturday, August 21st, while club members were at Station 1 holding our quarterly shirt-sale and conducting truck maintenance, a contingent of 6 members took Truck 2 to the Rhodes State Office Tower to support the 2010 Can-Am Police Fire games. Box 15 provided (3) rehab stations for the Skyscraper Climb event, in which contestants participated in a climb up the 40-story building. Members established rehab stations on the 1st, 18th, and 40th floors, supplying water, fruit, and plenty of encouragement for participants. Approximately 15 participants took part, and all completed the course. We extend congratulations to the participants, and to the City of Dublin and Washington Township on a successful games. While Truck 2 was at this detail, Truck 1 remained available for runs from downtown at the shirt sale.

Busy Season Continues

Print
In the early morning hours on Sunday August 15th, Columbus fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire in Berliner Park in the downtown area of the city. Due to the fire being in the middle of the park, crews had long lays of 5" hose. Box 15 was requested to the scene roughly one hour into the incident. Our crew was on scene for about an hour and provided 2 cases of water.
